Summary of comments

A number of comments cited the conservation area, whilst some flagged the impact on road safety.

I would disagree with placing any bicycle rack, especially the yellow bicycle structure, at any of the two proposed sites. The one beside the Heritage centre would adversely affect disabled buggy users and people with prams. The other option beside Grampa George’s train I feel would spoil that setting.‘ – ‘There is a piece of grass opposite the train, just round from the chip shop, which I would have thought would be better suited for the bicycle rack.‘ – David

Good idea to locate the stand centrally around the heritage centre or the nearby car park and the repair station. Could a car parking space be converted to a bike space? There’s plenty of parking in Cullen and we need to encourage other modes of transport. I agree with the comment above re the Community Centre/Cullen Library being another good location.’ – ‘ The viaduct location would be unsympathetic to the Cullen conservation area so close to the cottages and our iconic viaduct. The wooden train is well loved and the addition of a bike stand could make the space look a bit cluttered.’Helen

In the central square near the bike service stand and the shops seems best, if only one option is possible‘ – Georgina

As a disability scooter user, those who are fit and able need to consider how much room is required to turn around a scooter to access ramps. To use a bicycle, users must be fit and able, so having to park further away from areas of interest cannot be a problem for them.’Norma

This may be best somewhere away from traffic with the current concerns of no parking spaces anywhere, speeding down Seafield Street etc. It may work somewhere like attached to the football pavilion at Logie Park. Many of the routes could also start from there as some paths are in that vicinity‘ – Dennis.

It is difficult to find somewhere to chain your bike to in Cullen square, need to find either a lamppost or the railings opposite the heritage centre. Something near the bike maintenance area or any other spot in the square not obstructing other users would be welcome’. – Ewan

‘I would not support the bike port as pictured as it is not appropriate for the street scene in Cullen and in the conservation area.’The existing one in Buckie is too big and out of keeping as it would be here.’David
