Please do not be put off getting involved by the word ‘Election’. We need residents to get involved, if you are over 18 and live in Cullen and Deskford area you are eligible.
Elections are very rare for Community Councils and there are a number of ways to get involved, standing as a community councillor or becoming an associate member. There are 6 seats in Cullen and 3 in Deskford.

Notice of Election Published – Press Release 3rd October 2025

Moray Council has today (Friday 3 October 2025) published the official Notice of Election for the 2025 Community Council Elections.
This marks the start of the election process for Moray’s 20 Community Councils, which are made up of local volunteers who represent their communities and help shape decisions that affect their area.
Nominations for candidates open on Monday 6 October 2025. If you live in Moray and are aged 16 or over, you can stand for election to your local Community Council. Candidates must be on the electoral register and have until 4pm on Tuesday 21 October to lodge their nomination papers for any of the 208 seats available across Moray.
Community Councils play an important role in giving residents a voice on local issues like planning, licensing, and community services. They meet regularly and work closely with Moray Council and other organisations to support local communities. Find out more from those already involved here.
