Following our recent announcement, SCOTO Consulting is pleased to be working with Moray Council and partners to co-create a new Tourism Strategy for the region.
Our approach to this strategy is different. This strategy is being developed with the people of Moray, not simply for them — putting the needs, strengths and ambitions of local communities, businesses and places at the heart of future tourism.
In addition, following the closure of Visit Moray Speyside (which operated under a BID model) earlier this year, Moray no longer has a Destination Marketing/Management Organisation (DMO). This means our work will consider not just what the strategy should cover, but also how it should be delivered.
We are gathering views and insights in several ways and would welcome both your own input and your support in sharing these opportunities with your networks.
(The Moray Tourism Strategy is being funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, as well as from Visit Moray & Speyside Ltd and Highlands and Islands Enterprise.)
ONLINE MORAY TOURISM SURVEY
We have created a comprehensive Moray-wide tourism survey. It is designed to capture a wide range of views and insights and will take around 15 minutes to complete.
The survey is open to all residents, businesses and community groups — anyone with a stake in Moray’s tourism future. Please take the time to complete it, and we would greatly appreciate your help in circulating the link: https://www.scoto.co.uk/scoto-consulting/moray-tourism-strategy/ to your contacts and encouraging them to respond.
The survey will remain open until early November. Interim findings will be shared during our wider engagement activities, and results will inform the strategy.
FACE-TO-FACE Workshops
Over late September and early October, we are holding seven SCOTO Press Pause® workshops in locations across Moray, creating space for inclusive conversations that ask: What is and isn’t working just now? What could be done better or differently?
The workshops will have a local focus, helping to understand better local destination competency and sense of place, which will serve as the foundation for developing the strategy. These events are targeted at businesses, enterprises and community organisations. You can find out more about these events, the locations and times here> https://www.scoto.co.uk/scoto-consulting/moray-tourism-strategy/ Again, we would be delighted if you could flag these events to relevant local contacts.
ONLINE THEMED FORUMS
Early in November, we’ll host six online focus groups, each exploring different themes relating to tourism. These sessions will reflect on survey results and workshop discussions so far and help identify what the strategy should prioritise. If you would like to take part in these events, please go to: https://www.scoto.co.uk/scoto-consulting/moray-tourism-strategy/ and book a place at the relevant forum. Again, these may be of interest to some of your network.
