Hi folks,
Outfit Moray and Bike Revolution are closing for the festive period at 5pm on Friday 19th December and will re-open at 9am on 12th January, as we will be busy with staff training and the Strathpuffer 5-11 January.
This is the only time we close completely which means all our teams get a proper break after another incredibly busy year, so I wanted to send our Christmas wishes before we disappear to thank you for being part of Outfit Moray’s story this year.
It’s been another amazing year at Outfit Moray and we’ve had 15,225 ‘bums on seats’ across Outdoor Learning and Bike Revolution (Delivery) whilst our Bike Revolution (Enterprise) team refurbished 363 donated bikes, carried out 449 services and ran 20 bike maintenance classes. They also sold 195 refurbished bikes, which means we reduced the number of bikes going into landfill.
As always, we were only able to achieve these numbers thanks to the support of our generous funders, donors and fundraisers who provided the vital funds to help us make a difference to the lives of young people in Moray. We are also incredibly grateful to all our fantastic volunteers, who give up over 5,100 hours of their time to drive minibuses, support Cairngorm to Coast, clean our offices, provide first aid cover and fix bikes which equates to around £69,000 in real living wage terms!
A Children First survey earlier this year showed a staggering 92% of young people aged 11-25 in Scotland were worried about mental health and this is reflected in the continued demand for our work, which cost £860,000 to provide over the last financial year. Unfortunately, this amount is only expected to rise as demand for our services grows, alongside continued increases in delivery costs.
We are proud to be able to support so many young people and their families in Moray, particularly those with additional support needs and we’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for being part of our story this year. The quote below from a grateful parent shows the difference your support has made and we hope you take pride in knowing you are helping change lives.
“Over the past two years, three of our fostered children have benefitted greatly from outdoor learning provided by Outfit Moray, not only in terms of their physical and emotional wellbeing but in developing relational skills that have seen them develop meaningful friendships, and have high aspirations for their future selves, having built confidence in themselves and their abilities, and improving their self-esteem and sense of self. In terms of quality of education, these experiential learning opportunities, alongside support from school itself, are priceless.”
Of course, a festive email from Outfit Moray wouldn’t be the same without a Granny Fine Arts Christmas, thanks to Chris Gransden and we hope you enjoy this year’s as much as we do. Can you work out what the presents under the tree are?
Once again, a huge thank you for your support this year and we look forward to seeing you on our journey through 2026.
Very kind regards
Karen Cox
