Back before Moray Council set its budget for 2025-26, one of the cost saving options was the closure of seven of its libraries. These were in the rural and coastal areas and included, Burghead, Cullen, Dufftown, Fochabers, Keith, Lossiemouth and Tomintoul. The ‘Save Moray Libraries‘ and ‘Friends of Cullen Library‘ campaign groups fought a campaign and achieved a success with the council deciding to keep the seven libraries open.
One of the positive outcomes of the campaigns is that Moray Council have set up User Groups for each library which will meet quarterly with the objective of ensure the communities are involved in shaping the library service going forward.
News and updates on progress will be reported here.
