Next Stage of the Moray Tourism Strategy

You may have heard that SCOTO (Scottish Community Tourism CIC) is supporting the development of a new Moray Tourism Strategy for Moray Council — a ten-year plan that will set out a shared vision for tourism across the region. The strategy is being funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, as well as by Visit Moray & Speyside Ltd and Highlands and Islands Enterprise.

Over recent weeks, we’ve completed a series of Press Pause® workshops, where local businesses, enterprises, and community groups came together to share their views on what’s working, what’s not, and what could be improved when it comes to tourism in Moray.

We’re now moving into the next stage — a series of Online Focus Groups taking place in the first week of November. These sessions will explore key themes in more depth and are open to businesses, enterprises, and community organisations involved in tourism across Moray.

Each focus group will run for up to two hours on Zoom and cover one of the following themes:

  1. Heritage, Culture & the Creative Sector: Wed 5 Nov – 09:00 to 10:30
  2. Tourism & Hospitality Enterprises: Wed 5 Nov – 13:30 to 15:00
  3. Festivals, Events & Activities / Experiences: Thurs 6 Nov – 09:00 to 10:30
  4. Communities & Local Development Organisations: Thurs 6 Nov – 13:30 to 15:00
  5. Land & Environment Managers: Fri 7 Nov – 09:00 to 10:30
  6. Infrastructure, Policy & Public Services: Fri 7 Nov – 13:30 to 15:00

If you can’t attend a focus group, you can still make a difference by completing our online survey — it’s open to everyone and your input will help shape the final strategy.

Thank you for being part of the conversation, please circulate this information to anyone in your network who may be interested in taking part — the more voices we hear, the stronger the strategy will be!

Best wishes,
The SCOTO Team

This is an issue for residents as well. The new session of the Community Council stats shortly, and one of the issues we will have to address is banking.

Lossiemouth have a banking hub which is something the community council will look at.
