Kronach Twinning Association

THE HISTORIC BANFFSHIRE-KRONACH TWINNING ASSOCIATION.

The Banffshire-Kronach twinning is a partnership between the historic Banffshire region and the district of Kronach in Bavaria, Germany, which has existed since 1973. The Association fosters community links through activities such as school and community group exchanges, musical tours, and social events.

A new committee with Deputy Lieutenant Kay Gauld as chair, Susan Carr as secretary,  James Allan as treasurer and representatives from Banffshire groups are preparing to visit Kronach in the July of 2026.  These groups include: the Banffshire Community Band; the Deveron Singers; the Country Quines; the Banffshire Scottish Country Dancers; Highland Dancers; representatives from Cullen Tennis Club, the Men’s Shed in Keith; and the Deaf and Disabled Society in Aberchirder. While the musicians and dancers will give performances in different venues, all of the 73 participants to Kronach will engage with schools, Nursing Homes, and businesses in order to reignite the good relationships we enjoyed before Covid.

As well as benefitting both regions through unique and inspirational educational and cultural experiences, the twinning also helps to promote tourism to Banffshire as well as business opportunities.

If you would like to support the Banffshire-Kronach Twinning, you can become a member for an annual fee of only £10.  Although a small amount, the money will go towards the costs of the next visitation from Kronach which will be in 2027.  Thank you very much for giving this your consideration.  The bank details are as follows:

Royal Bank of Scotland 83-16-40  Acc No 00228764 Name: Banffshire Kronach Twinning.  Please e-mail Mr James Allan to let him know you have done so: james.allan@moray.gov.uk     All support greatly appreciated.
